Kal Ho Naa Ho: 20 years of the film that taught some important life lessons

'Kal Ho Naa Ho' is undoubtedly Shah Rukh Khan's one of the finest films. And it's just unbelievable that this movie, which gave us some of the best life lessons, has turned 20 recently. I don't want to give away my age, but I feel pretty old.

From music to dialogues to some iconic scenes, everything about this film is just unforgettable. Today, as I celebrate 20 years of one of my favourite SRK films, here are things I learned from this film:

When SRK said 'Jiyo! Khush Raho! Muskurao! Kya Pata Kal Ho Naa Ho!'

Shah Rukh Khan plays Aman, who is dying, but he leaves Naina (and us) with an important life-lesson that we should live our life to the fullest and have a lot of fun in every moment because you never know if you'd wake up to see a tomorrow.

When SRK said 'Kaash … kaash main tumhari jagah pe hota … kaash'

There is a saying that the 'grass is greener always on the other side'. This movie taught me how someone else's life is always going to seem better but in actual, they think the same about yours. I learned how being happy with what I have, making the most of what I have is the key to happiness, satisfaction and a fulfilling life. (Though, I am still a work in progress :D)

When SRK said 'Pyar ka pehla kadam dosti hai, aur aakhari bhi ... bus beech ke kadam reh gaye hain'

Karan Johar with 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' had established that 'pyaar dosti hai' but 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' taught me how friendship is not only the beginning of a relationship but also its end. If you remember, by the end of the film, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan's characters are sharing their memories not only as a couple but also as best friends. How beautiful is that! Wouldn't you want to end up with someone like that too?

When SRK said 'Jo ladka tumhari figure ko dekhke pyaar karega…wo galat karega'

During the times when a certain kind of figure is being celebrated and people are under pressure to look Insta-perfect, this SRK movie taught us about self-respect and how someone who'd love us for the way we look isn't deserving of what we have to offer to him or her as a person. We all deserve the best kind of love, irrespective of our size, race, caste or preference.

When SRK said 'Is dil ki mohabbat mein bohot taakat hai, lekin yeh dil bohot kamzor hai'

Love is sure the strongest emotion a human experiences in his/her lifetime. However, heartbreaks are worse.

Well, these were some of my favourite life lessons I got from this SRK-starrer. What are yours?
